Instead of a Sit Down Lunch

From Gather As You Go

It’s fun to find ways to make showers extra special for the bride, and for her guests too. A few ideas:

  • Do a cooking shower where you have a chef teach your guests how to cook something unusual and interesting or teach the tricks of great display: the ultimate cheese tray, edible flowers, the best-looking and easiest watermelon basket ever.
  • Have a creative shower at which you teach the guests how to arrange flowers in one room and how to create or wrap magical packages in another.
  • Host a bar shower at a local restaurant for guys and gals. Have the bartender show everyone how to make fantastic concoctions. Bring in live music and party on.
  • Rent a bowling alley and serve bar food. Supply cowboy hats.
  • Consider a beach bridal party or an old-fashioned cookout.
  • Which friend has an incredible garden you can borrow for an outdoor ladies’ day?
  • Rent a boat and do a wedding shower cruise.
  • Hold a tailgate party for big football fans.
  • Frankly, any party idea you can think of can be done for the bride or for the bride and groom. Get creative—it will make the day more special for all.
