Witches’ Ball

From Gather As You Go

Every other year I host the Witches’ Ball, for women only, and it is WILD! The women come dressed in their finest witch attire. I mix lawyers, CEOs, teachers, stay-at-home moms—along with women who work with me.  All these fun and crazy women dress to the nines. My daughter and daughters-in-law are invited to come and bring a couple of friends, so we have ten to fifteen women who are in their early thirties; but most of the women are between forty-five and seventy-five. It is held at the “bar of the frog,” which, of course, is Hugo’s Frog Bar in Chicago. We hire a great disc jockey, a magician who roams the tables, and a couple of great-looking actors (males only) who dress in costume and dance with the hundred-plus women all night long. We pass out a bunch of favors throughout the night including flashing lights, and green or scarlet cocktails are served in light-up glasses. Treasures abound and it is all just plain crazy. The music never stops, nor does the dancing. I think when women dress up and can just play, it is the most fun thing to watch and to be a part of. The pictures tell the story.
