- Recruit capable people and show them you value their time.
- State the commitment and stick to it.
- Bring very bright and creative people together and they can create magic.
- Work for a place that is respected by all; it certainly helped that this was the premier women’s hospital in Chicago.
- Do something different. Chicago didn’t need another “same-old” black-tie event.
- Make sure the funds raised are going to something people find meaningful; our money went for research and people preferred that to buildings.
- Have fun and do something everyone is proud of. You can make an incredible difference and meet great people along the way.
